My sweet Trip. Born in the Spring of 2012. His full name is “Trip the Cat Fantastic”, named by our clever son. He was a big brother to Jackson the dog, and cat siblings Guinness (the sister) and Mikey the other boy. In the last four years after my husband passed away, I lost Mikey, Jackson, and Guinness…so I told Trip it was him and me against the world! Little did I know.
Trip was the sweetest boy. He was a shy fella until he got used to you. He didn’t really like to snuggle, but he’d lay near you. He loved to be near people, just not “on” you. Even everyone at the Summerside Vet Clinic thought he was a sweet boy. When he had surgery last week they all said he was a sweet boy.
He loved the outdoors. Loved laying in the grass in the sunshine. He actually had several places that he loved to sun bathe - and that was his favourite pastime in the last number of years. His favourite thing to do in the last year or so was tricking my son, Kris, to go outside with him and sit on the ramp of the shed, while Trip rubbed himself on his favourite bush. I will spread his ashes in the dirt under that bush. He’ll be happy there.
When he had surgery last week we didn’t realize at the time that the virus had spread to his other eye and knowing he would lose sight in that eye too, we knew he would never be happy being an indoor cat. So we made the difficult decision to let him go to sleep. As with all of our other fur babies, Trip will be missed, always loved, and remembered forever.
