Keno’s Tribute
Oh puppy. Where do I begin?
10 years of loving you wasn’t enough. You came home at just a little guy at 8 weeks old. Then you left us at 10 years 3.5 months old. You were and always will be my little Sugar Plum, my Rufus, my Keno Rotten. I’ve been trying to think of words to say for your tribute but there are just so many memories that it’s hard to just narrow down a few. Your snuggles, your wet kisses, your excitement when we came home, begging for French fries or chicken or pizza or just whatever we were eating.
You loved each one of your family members and we all loved you just as much.
Mama was your go to for almost everything. Immediate need for snuggles when I was sitting on the couch. Curling up in my arms like a little baby. Mama’s good boy.
You loved your human brother, Koda, for his stinky socks. You’d sneak in his room and causally walk into the living room and lay down with his sock. We’d move the couch and there would be dozens of stolen socks. When you were a teeny puppy, you’d run outside and chase Koda’s feet when he’d come home from school. You were a huge Koda’s boy. You loved curling up next to Koda and Eli in the big bed. I was told you were a bed hog. You loved Eli’s booty scratches and nose boops cause Eli would make you sneeze. You loved attack kisses with Eli. You loved hearing Koda come home or leave in the truck. Immediately up to the window and wagging your tail. Koda and Eli’s little buddy.
You loved your human sister. She made the best numnums. (Kibble and wet food). You would lay on the floor in “froggy” position and Lulu would say “froooooogy” in a very squeaky voice and you’d let out little grrrr’s. Lulu would play the song “Turn Down For What” and you sang along. You loved curling up on the couch with Lulu and Kyle while they played video games on the tv. You were just a snuggle buddy for everyone.
You loved your Dad for his snacks. He’d be getting his sneakers on to go to work and you’d sit there wagging that little tail wondering what Dad had today to share. When Dad would come home for lunch/supper or even the end of shift, you’d sit in the dining room and bark letting Dad know Mama made supper. Dad always bought you the coolest dog treats. Dad also gave good ear scratches. Dad’s good boy.
You loved your Nanny too. (Mama’s mom). You’d look for her out the window and if she was on the phone, you’d look at the screen and give head tilts.
There’s so many more memories that we’ll each hold in our hearts of our little Miniature Schnauzer. You’ll always be with us Keno. The house feels so empty without you. We love and miss you so much. Forever in our hearts.
P.S - Hope you’re giving Freddie some piggy back rides. (Bearded dragon). Hope Cassie isn’t giving you too many swats. (Tabby cat)
